While I was thinking about what next after my engineering in biotechnology?, I came to know about the Biotechnology Finishing School (BTFS) program of Government of Karnataka. Hence I took up the All India Entrance Exam to join this practical-oriented course after my engineering in biotechnology from Nitte Mahalinga Adyanthaya Memorial Institute of Technology, an autonomous engineering college in Nitte, Karnataka. Initially, I was not happy about taking this course, as I was too keen on taking medicine as a subject post my Pre-University Course (PUC).

As days passed, the eagerness to learn and understand this new subject helped me to start liking this course and I started enjoying the subjects. This change has taken place just not because of my urge to learn new things, but also because of the enthusiastic and highly learned faculty, who have been teaching during my graduation level back then and now at the Manipal. In addition to that the hands-on training offered at the institute and at various organizations where I had my internship, boosted the level of interest towards this niche and growing biotechnology industry. I must thank the staff and teachers of Manipal Life Sciences Centre, Manipal University for their immense support and for teaching us with patience.

After getting some exposure in the industry during this one-year course, I am keen on pursuing higher studies in molecular biology or human genetics in or outside India. I feel that there is a lot of scope and opportunity for human genetics in abroad.
