After completing post-graduation in biotechnology from the Garden City College in Bangalore, I looked at pursuing higher education in biotechnology before stepping into industry. Hence, I joined Biotechnology Finishing School (BTFS), an initiative of Government of Karnataka to bridge the gap between supply and demand of skilled work force for the industry, through an All India Entrance Examination.

Although my first choice was to take up medicine, I ended up taking up biotechnology as a subject for my future career. Now I am happy about taking this exciting subject as my career choice. I have always been fascinated by the applications of diagnostics, and that is why I am pursing a course in cellular molecular diagnostics at BTFS at Manipal Life Sciences. I thank the staff and teachers of Manipal Life Sciences Centre, Manipal University for their immense support and for teaching the students with patience.

Being a daughter of an entrepreneur who owns wholesale and retail business in Nagapur, Maharashtra, my long-term career objective is to become an entrepreneur after gaining valuable experience in the industry. My father, Mr Naresh Kumar, who is my role model has been supporting me in all my decisions. Passion to learn new things will help in understanding the industry better and in turn it will support my dream of becoming an entrepreneur.

The hands-on experience gained by working at various organizations in the last few months as a part of internship has energized and encouraged me to know more and to gain knowledge about the diagnostic sector where I am keen to take up my future career.
