Hospital to offer the latest techniques and treatment protocols based on global standards
To counter the growing scourge of cancer in the state of Karnataka and give patients access to world class treatment facilities the leading chain of healthcare services, Fortis Hospitals, launched a specialized Cancer Institute in Bangalore. Honorable Home Minister of Karnataka, Basavaraj Bommai, and the MP, Bangalore South Constituency, L. Suryanarayana Tejasvi inaugurated the institute which is equipped with advanced technology and the latest equipment at Fortis Hospital Bannerghatta Road unit to provide comprehensive cancer care in a holistic manner.
The cancer institute will have 200 beds dedicated for treating patients with an aim to provide 360 degree comprehensive cancer care under one roof. There are various services available at the centre which includes advanced surgical oncology, robotic cancer surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, haemato oncology, neuro oncology, uro oncology, nuclear medicine, psycho oncology, onco-pathology, interventional radiology, palliative and rehabilitative care, all made available to enhance patient experience while undergoing cancer treatment.
In line with this, Dr Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, MD & CEO, Fortis Healthcare, said, “With the rise in cancer cases and with the lack of specialised centres, having a dedicated institute for treating the disease is the need of the hour. We are happy to launch this oncology institute which will provide the citizens of this state and the country access to global oncology experts and other world class amenities under one roof. According to the WHO, cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide and accounted for 7.6 million deaths. There are only 62 dedicated cancer care hospitals that cater to an estimated 2.25 million patients in India, according to the National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research (NICPR).
