The Hyderabad- based Ocimum Biosolutions has signed the distribution agreement with Canada-based United Bioinformatica Inc (UBI). This is Ocimum's fourth distributor agreement. The other distributors are Bioexchange.com, Spectrum Research (USA) and Sivani Scientific.
Subash Lingareddy, president, Ocimum Biosolutions said, "the agreement will help the researchers in Canada to access to our cutting edge sequence analysis and data management capabilities for molecular biological research that enables increased laboratory productivity. "
According to the press release UBI will distribute, Ocimum's bioinformatics software — Genchek and Biotracker - in Canada. UBI looks for collaborative development opportunities to build high value software products that provide simple, elegant solutions to meet their customers' informatics needs.
The release quoted Lindsay Moir, president, UBI, as saying, "Genchek is the only commercial desktop sequence analysis software with a modern database (MySQL), written in the industry standard Java language, that is priced right for the academic market. And Biotracker is the most cost effective and comprehensive laboratory information management system for the emerging biotech company that needs to manage its laboratory personnel and facilities better as it drives towards commercialization of its drug discovery targets.
