Fortis receives JCI accreditation

The achievement underscores the company's commitment for high standard quality and patient safety, that only a few select hospitals offer in the country.

"Joint Commission International is one of the largest international healthcare evaluators in the world. Its primary focus is to ensure improvement in patient safety and quality of health care through education, advisory, accreditation and certification services. We are proud to have achieved this distinction for the third time and to be looked upon as one of the most efficient multi-specialty hospitals," said Mr Karthik Rajagopal, regional director-south, Fortis Hospitals.

With this achievement, Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road, becomes the third Fortis facility in India to maintain its accreditation status for the third consecutive term.

A JCI accreditation is valid for three years, following which the facility is reassessed.

Notably, Fortis Bannerghatta Road was assessed on the recently revised JCI standards, which are more stringent and demanding.

"We are pleased to be accredited by the JCI which awards quality accreditation, and to be ranked amongst the highest echelons of healthcare providers in this part of the world. This accreditation will add more value to Fortis Hospital Bannerghatta and will further enhance the confidence of our patients in quality, safety, treatment and services," Said Dr Deepak Balani, Medical head, Fortis Hospitals, Bannerghatta Road.

The Joint Commission is a US-based non-profit organization. It accredits more than 20,000 healthcare organizations in the US.

The JCI was set up in 1997 as an affiliate of The Joint Commission.

The JCI grants accreditation to healthcare facilities in more than 60 countries after a rigorous evaluation of several parameters, including the quality of patient-care and patient-safety.

The accreditation is widely considered as a "seal of approval" by medical travelers seeking quality healthcare services.

Accreditation is an effective quality assurance tool for any healthcare organizations.

The JCI accreditation reflects the hospital's commitment towards improving the safety and quality of patient care by continually working to reduce risks.
