Dr B Gopal to recieve CDRI drug research excellence award 2013
Well deserved award to Dr B Gopal
The prestigious Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)- Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI) (CDRI) award for excellence in drug research for the year 2013 in life sciences has been given to Dr Balasubramanian Gopal of Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. Dr Gopal who is a senior scientist and head, molecular biophysics unit at IISc, has been awarded for his work on structural studies on proteins from pathogenic bacteria. The felicitation ceremony will be held on 26th September 2013 at Lucknow.
In chemical sciences the award has been conferred to Dr. D. Srinivasa Reddy of CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune for his contributions towards discovery of a molecule for treating a disease related to metabolism, which is now in Phase II clinical trial.
