The superstar Ms Madhuri Dixit has urged parents and caregivers to stick to vaccination schedules and immunize their children regularly to protect them from health hazards. The actress, who has been associated with UNICEF for a long time, stood up for the cause in a bid to protect young children who die because of lack of immunization.

Speaking about the association with UNICEF, the actress said, "I am associated with UNICEF and through them with this noble project. I am a mother and realize that if I want my kids to be healthy then I will have to immunize them. It is really shocking to look at the statistics of kids dying before the age of 5. So, the immunization is really important."

UNICEF has been actively involved in raising awareness about vaccination programs in India. Understanding the penetration of radio, the organization has partnered with radio jockeys to conduct initersting workshops to convey the importance of vaccination to children and parents.

UNICEF and partners have envisaged the first of its kind Radio4child Awards to encourage radio journalist who are creating awareness around routine immunization.
