The strength of Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) lies in its highly experienced faculty, all of whom hold a doctoral degree and 70 percent of them possessing more than five years of experience. This translates into a high research output with 24 papers being published in international journals and five in national journals, within the last academic year itself. Not resting on just research articles, the department has also filed for a whopping 18 international patents since June 2012, and has been granted three Indian patents in the same time frame as well.

The emphasis on translational technology has borne fruit over the years, with ICT building a reputation for developing processes and products that can be immediately transferred to various industries. This has also led ICT to bag industry sponsored projects worth Rs 200.53 lakh since 2012, more than double the previous academic year.

At ICT, all the MTech courses are sponsored by DBT and approved by AICTE. Additionally, the department has been actively engaging government agencies through various grants and funds to the tune of Rs 780 lakh since June 2012 for projects. In the last four years, the institute has transferred 10 products to the industry. The lab to student ratio too is high, with each 24 labs made available for students.

ICT also houses the ICT-DBT Center for Energy Biosciences, which is focused on developing sustainable biofuel technologies, using a multidisciplinary approach through national and international collaborations.
