To provide patients with a cost-effective model to meet their needs of extensive therapy and medical attention as part of rehabilitation services following acute illnesses, Narayana Health, one of India’s leading healthcare providers, inaugurated its advanced Rehabilitation Centre in Bengaluru on February 8, 2024.
The centre offers a comprehensive range of services, including post-stroke rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury care, spinal cord injury management, cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation, and chronic pain management amongst others.
The centre is managed with the latest rehabilitation protocols and clinical equipment such as gamified rehabilitation, body weight support systems, virtual reality, and automated assistive technology in addition to standard rehabilitation devices. With a focus on enhancing functional independence and reducing caregiver burden, the centre endeavours to empower patients and their families toward holistic recovery and societal integration. In addition to providing expert medical care, the centre is committed to community engagement and wellness.
Highlighting the key features of the centre, Dr Devi Shetty, Chairman of Narayana Health, said, “The centre offers cutting-edge, cost-effective rehabilitation, catering to both in-patient and out-patient needs. What sets us apart is the seamless integration of clinical support from our multispecialty centre with rehabilitation that is done in a very serene environment conducive to healing. This ensures a continuum of care rarely found elsewhere.”
Dr Emmanuel Rupert, CEO of Narayana Health, highlighted that identifying their area of focus and assembling an interdisciplinary team of experts was of utmost priority to the leadership team.
In his inaugural address, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka emphasised that this rehabilitation centre initiative will be an encouragement and motivation for other hospital agencies to follow suit.
The Minister further said “The rehabilitation centre initiative aims to provide patients with acute illnesses with a cost-effective model of continuous medical attention. There is a gap in the country’s current medical infrastructure, and this initiative is a positive step towards effectively bridging that gap." Further commenting on the rehabilitation centre’s credibility, the Minister called Narayana Healthcare a ‘brand of its own’, and a unique platform for spearheading and incorporating new cutting-edge technological advances and ideas in the medical sector.
