“The Union Budget 2022 is focussed on capital expenditure to fuel economic growth and create employment. When it comes to the healthcare sector, the National Tele-Mental Health programme is a progressive step in recognising mental health as an important and integral component of overall health. The launch of the national digital health ecosystem with an open platform will go a long way in promoting the use of digital technologies in making healthcare available and accessible. However, based on our experience during the three waves of this pandemic and the huge burden of non-communicable diseases in India, there is an urgent need to accelerate our allocation towards health expenditure.”
