Toshiba America Medical Systems has launched new Aplio Platinum Series CV ultrasound systems. These include the Aplio 500 Platinum CV and Aplio 300 Platinum feature 2D Wall Motion Tracking, spectral and color Doppler, and Toshiba's latest suite of guidance and workflow technologies.

According to Dr Edmund K Kerut, West Jefferson Medical Center, "Toshiba's Aplio 500 Platinum CV with Wall Motion Tracking technology delivers the image quality and data we need for quantitative measurements. It has made it easier to perform calculations of LV volumes with ejection fraction and serial follow-up of our chemotherapy patients with added GLS measurements."

Also, the company's Infinix 4DCT has received US FDA (United States Food and Drug Administration) clearance with the Aquilion PRIME CT system configuration.

The system significantly improves workflow with its SUREGuidance technology, which allows for automatic transition between modalities. In addition, it is capable of saving significant time by allowing clinicians to perform CT and interventional procedures within the same room and verify treatment success following procedures.

"The Infinix 4DCT allows clinicians to plan, treat and verify in a single clinical setting, which negates the need to transfer patients between departments, resulting in anticipated decreases of both procedure time and risk of infection. This also contributes to improved patient safety and satisfaction by minimizing the clinicians' time spent away from patients, allowing them to focus on providing quality care," said Mr Bill Newsom, director, X-ray Vascular Business Unit, Toshiba.

Toshiba will showcase the Aplio Platinum Series CV and Infinix 4DCT at this year's American College of Cardiology (ACC) annual meeting.
