The Roche Diagnostics platform, which includes the iScan Coreo scanner and the Virtuoso digital pathology software, together represent a new way of working for pathologists in India. They are no longer tied to a microscope and a glass slide, a practice that has existed for more than 200 years.

Discussing the new technology at a meeting of pathologists in India, Mr Guido Sander, MD, Roche Diagnostics India, said, "From remotely viewing patient slides, to consulting specialists real time within India or even in other parts of the world, the applications of digital pathology are endless."

According to Roche's press release, the scanner provides high speed slide scanning, improved image quality, and advanced slide handling.

The scanner is packaged with advanced image viewing software, offering pathologists the ability to view and annotate digital images of scanned slides.

Paired with the virtuoso digital pathology software, iScan Coreo provides users with a complete digital pathology solution from image acquisition through customized reporting thus, increasing operational efficiencies and productivity in the lab.

Dr Sujay Prasad, director, Anand Diagnostic Laboratory shared his vision on digital pathology while addressing the meeting of Pathologists.
