Centre for Monogenic Diabetes comes up in Chennai

The Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF) and Dr Mohan's Diabetes Specialities Centre tie up to launch the centre

The Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF) and Dr Mohan's Diabetes Specialities Centre have announced the inauguration of the Centre for Monogenic Diabetes at Dr Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre’s, Gopalapuram premises in Chennai.

The Centre for Monogenic Diabetes has been set up to identify all such children who may be having monogenic forms of diabetes like MODY or Neonatal Diabetes.

The Madras Diabetes Research Foundation is recognised as a Centre for Advanced Research in Diabetes by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). It has been recognised as a nodal centre for Monogenic Diabetes in India and patients are referred from all over India to the centre to rule out monogenic diabetes.

The Centre for Monogenic Diabetes was inaugurated virtually by Subramanian, Minister for Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu. Dr V. Mohan, Chairman, Dr Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre; Dr Ranjit Unnikrishnan, Vice Chairman, Dr Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre; Dr RM Anjana, Managing Director, Dr Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre; Dr Radha Venkatesan, Head of Genomics, Dr Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre; were also present on the occasion.
