All branches of Maxivision are Super Specialty Comprehensive Care hospitals, and hosts state of the art technology and Robotic Surgeries, to treat Cataract, Glaucoma, high glass powers, Glaucoma, Cornea and Paediatric Eye care. Now the network has Retina Care across its branches.

With the increasing incidence of Retina diseases due to Diabetes and various other reasons, Maxivision has now invested in Retina Care Technology in its Tertirary Care centres at Somajiguda, Madhapur and Warangal. This technology is from Alcon, USA, the Leaders in Eye Care technology across the world. This advanced endowment of Constellation, an advanced Vitreo Retina Surgery unit, will be able to tackle all complicated Retina Surgeries and provide painless, and quick recovery of critical retina surgeries.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kasu Prasad Reddy, Founder, and Co chairman said: ‘Diabetes is one of the leading causes of vision loss in India, and elsewhere in the world. International Diabetes Federation report 2017 estimated that there were 425 million diabetics in the world and this figure is expected to grow to 629 million by 2045.

Survey reports say one in every 7 diabetic patients are suffering from Diabetic Retinopathy or are visually impaired. Uncontrolled sugar levels are the cause of Diabetic Retinopathy. It is advisable for all Diabetics, to have their vision examination, and a detailed retina check up, at least once in 6 months.  It is also very important that all Ophthalmologist’s take serious note of this rising epidemic and train themselves in treating the disease, or educate the patients to have preventive check ups, to avoid Retina blindness”.

Elaborating on this, Sudheer, Chief Operating Officer, of Maxivision group, said: “Maxivision had Diabetic Retinopathy treatment across its branches. During last couple of years, due to steady inflow of the patients, for Retina care, we have invested in advanced Green Lasers, and Fundus Cameras across our network. To encourage preventive care, we initiated a series of education programs, free Diabetic Retina check up and news articles for public awareness on criticality of Retina and possible vision loss. Surgical Retina was taken care by our Head of Retina Services, Dr.Muralidhar Rao, who has over 18 years of experience in Retina Surgeries, and one of the leading expert surgeon in this part of the region.

During last couple of years, we have roped in around 6 more experienced Surgeons to the group, thus panelling 7 Super Specialty Retina Specialists for the group, making it largest group of Retina specialists, to cater to the growing necessity of Retina Care.

This latest investment in Constellation, a State of the art Retina Surgery Station, in Somajiguda, Madhapur, and Warangal will make us one of the closely networked Retina care group, managed by expert surgeons in Retina, with combined experience of over 20 years.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Muralidhar Rao, Head of Retina Services, explained: “Preventive care is the best remedy to reduce the risks of vision loss due to retina damages. All diabetics should have their Retina checked once in 6 months from a Retina Specialist, and not a General Ophthalmologist. Retina evaluation need skill, and technology, and expertise to make correct diagnosis and plan the right treatment. Retina surgeries are very critical surgeries, and hence expertise is very important to have good surgical outcome. ARMD (Age related macular degeneration) is also a leading cause of Retina blindness, and we have various types of treatments to prevent further vision loss to the patients.

Dr Tandava Krishnan, who is an 8 years experienced Vitreo Retina Surgeon, in Madhapur said, During last couple of years, I have been treating RoP (Retinopathy of Prematurity) which is Retina Disease amongst new born. Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is an eye disease that can happen in premature and low birth weight babies. It causes abnormal blood vessels to grow in the retina, and can lead to blindness. If the disease has progressed to the point of membrane, the retina formation will begin to detach. ROP has no signs or symptoms. The only way to detect it is through an eye examination by an ophthalmologist who is specially trained in Retina Diseases. We visit various other hospitals, to diagnose the babies and suggest the best treatment to babies. Maxivision has been in the forefront of tackling Retina diseases comprehensively, and this latest technology addition will help surgeons in the group to tackle the disease with more efficiency and accuracy.”

Now with this latest technology in Somajiguda, Madhapur, and Warangal, and other superior technology in Vijayawada, and Vizag, Maxivision group will have 5 Retina Surgery units, and Medical Retina & Diabetic Retina care across all its 14 branches.
