The hospital set up a high-end Hybrid Operating Room (HOR) equipped with Artis Q angiography system with a surgical table from Siemens Healthineers

The Institute of vascular and endovascular sciences at SGRH, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH) has set up a high-end Hybrid Operating Room (HOR) equipped with Artis Q angiography system with a surgical table from Siemens Healthineers for vascular applications and has proudly completed 1000 cases since its commissioning in November 2018.

Burden of vascular diseases - disorders of blood vessels and blood circulation in our body - is increasing at an alarming pace in India, across genders, age groups and geographical spread. Increasing prevalence is largely on account of the changing lifestyle and the socio-economic conditions. It can be mainly attributed to, advanced age, smoking, alcohol consumption, over eating, obesity, physical inactivity coupled with diabetes and hypertension. All these enhance the disease process with potential risks to limb, organ and or life. India today, is the diabetic capital of the world, with almost 60 million diabetics. Varicose veins and deep vein thrombosis with serious potential complications involving veins are also on the rise. Accidents with injury involving major blood vessels are rapidly increasing with socioeconomic changes in the community.

A large number of patients with arterial disease have multilevel disease which requires a combination of open surgery and endovascular intervention therapies. It is possible to perform complex procedures using Artis Q Hybrid OR with fusion imaging capability, to ensure optimal endovascular repair. Hybrid OR combines both open surgery and endovascular intervention therapies in a single stage rather than subjecting patients to repeated procedures.

Artis Q angiography system offers unparalleled performance with the new powerful X-ray tube for high contrast resolution at any angle and for any patient size. The high-dynamic range (HDR) detector enables enhanced image quality in advanced 3D imaging resulting up to 70% better visibility of small vessels. It delivers innovative applications offering precision for enhanced guidance during interventional procedures during surgery. It is powered with first ever EVAR Guidance tool with automated workflow support for endovascular repair. StraightView maintains upright images for all C-arm and table positions providing imaging access at any angle.

Dr. Varinder S. Bedi, Chairman, Institute of Vascular and Endovascular Sciences, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital said, “Our motto is to achieve excellence in the field of Vascular Surgery which is only possible by good surgical and endovascular techniques along with latest state-of-the-art equipment to produce results comparable to the best centers of the world. With Artis Q, we have proven confidence to further enhance and extend the clinical advantages of this technology to the patients.”

Sanjay David, Head of Advanced Therapies at Siemens Healthineers, India said, “The excellent team at SGRH with Artis Q Hybrid OR has set a benchmark in Vascular Surgery offering unmatched clinical expertise and cutting edge technologies. Through our unique solutions we are committed to play a significant role in transforming care delivery in India.”

Artis Q angiography system is floor mounted ensuring maximum hygiene in the OR. It features a floor rotation point with motorized swivel ensuring optimum access to the patient’s head as well as extensive coverage from head to toe. A special orthogonal position with rotated surgical table enables easy access to the patient’s head and sides for hybrid procedures.
