Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) aims to improve access to care for rurally and traditionally underserved patients by training health professionals in high quality, evidence based treatment of complex diseases.
Clinicians based in rural and underserved communities participate in teleECHO ‘clinics’ through a Hub and Spoke model. This model also offers an opportunity for reviewing programs, capacity building of staff and dissemination of programmatic updates.
To enable National Programs, National Institutes and Hospitals under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) to further benefit by using the ECHO Model, an MoU has been signed between the MoHFW and the ECHO India which obviates the need for separate MoUs with individual Programmes and Institutes of the MoHFW.
