On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, Bengaluru-based multi-specialty hospital, Sagar Hospitals launched it’s second branch of Sagar centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology, a dedicated centre to provide end-to-end solutions for all diabetic and pre-diabetic conditions. The centre was inaugurated by Dr Arun Vadavi, a prominent Diabetologist in Bangalore, at their Banshankari unit.

The clinic is positioned as a centre of excellence for diabetes and endocrine care. It is equipped with a highly trained, experienced and dedicated team of doctors, specialized dieticians, educators, and nurses trained to attend to diabetes patients.

Inaugurating the centre, Dr Arun Vadavi said, “Diabetes is a complex health condition where symptoms differ from person to person and so does the diagnosis. The greatest problem facing them is lack of proper medical care and awareness among public. India is home to over 72 million people with diabetes mellitus and the number is increasing by the minute. I am glad to have been part of such an initiative and hope that people will be benefitted with the services being delivered, at Sagar Hospitals.”

The number of people with diabetes in India has gone up from 26 million in 1990 to 72 million in 2017, with the prevalence of diabetes in adults aged 20 years or older. India currently represents 49 percent of the world’s diabetes burden, a figure expected to almost double to 134 million by 2025.  Diabetes can affect every organ of the body and there are many complications that one might develop, such as cardiovascular disease, nerve damage (neuropathy), kidney damage (nephropathy), eye damage (retinopathy) and foot damage among many others.
