Siemens’ medical technology division Siemens Healthineers has started work on a new $300 million manufacturing and research and development (R&D) facility for laboratory diagnostics at Walpole, Massachusetts, in the US.

Expected to create approximately 700 new jobs over the coming ten years, the new facility is intended to enhance customer experience by strengthening healthcare operations.

The firm is currently reported to provide more than ten billion laboratory diagnostic tests every year and plans to further bolster its footprint.

The company invests more than $1billion annually for R&D in the US and the latest investment is anticipated to expand its capabilities to provide simple solutions for lab professionals, enabling them to spend less time on operations and contribute to better outcomes.

Siemens Healthineers develops products and services across diagnostic, therapeutic imaging, laboratory diagnostics and molecular medicine segments. The firm currently operates more than 60 manufacturing sites in the US.
