The mobile lab will enable state drug regulatory officials to check production of spurious or substandard drugs across the state.

The Gujarat Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) is all set to launch India's mobile testing lab equipped with high-tech devices in the state by the end of June.
One of the best features of this high tech testing lab is its safety feature which allows it to give on the spot results of the drugs tested without causing any damage to the original samples.

The mobile drug testing lab is equipped with a near infrared spectrophotometer, x ray fluorescence spectrometer, an ion mobility spectrometer and a Raman spectrophotometer. The total cost of the project comes to about Rs one crore.
The mobile lab will enable state drug regulatory officials to check production of spurious or substandard drugs across the state.

For the organization, patient safety is the main goal and a commitment towards providing best healthcare services to patients by adopting better ways to strengthen the drug regulatory system in the state.

Depending on the success of the project, FDCA may acquire and deploy more such mobile vans in the state.
