Jharkhand’s Debabrata Meitei wins National BioQuiz 2025 at BTS 2025

In a standout display of biotechnology knowledge and quick-thinking, Debabrata Meitei from the ICAR–Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology, Jharkhand, clinched the National BioQuiz 2025 title at the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS 2025). Demonstrating exceptional command over molecular biology, genetics, and emerging biotech innovations, Debabrata maintained a consistent lead throughout the competition, outperforming finalists from across India.

Hosted by quizmaster Giri Balasubramaniam (Pickbrain) and inaugurated by Apoorva K. Bidari, KAS, the BioQuiz 2025 National Finals featured intense rounds that tested precision, recall speed, and conceptual depth. Debabrata’s calm approach, accuracy under pressure, and strategic buzzer play set him apart early in the contest, securing him the top national honour.

Bhavya Bansal from Lovely Professional University, Uttar Pradesh, finished as the Runner-Up, with another strong performance by the Maharashtra finalist from AISSMS College of Engineering. Yet, the day clearly belonged to Debabrata Meitei, whose victory underscores the rising talent emerging from India’s biotechnology education ecosystem.

Debabrata’s achievement was applauded by the BTS audience, marking him as one of the most promising young minds set to contribute to India’s growing bioeconomy.
