India poised to be among top 5 Global Biomanufacturing Hubs by 2025, says Dr Jitendra Singh

Minister of Science & Technology Dr Jitendra Singh launched the website of "Global Bio-India 2023", a mega International congregation on Biotechnology, to be held at Pragati Maidan from 4-6 December, 2023, at its curtain raiser event in Delhi recently.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, "Biotechnology is the technology of tomorrow as IT has already reached its saturation point."
He further said, "The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (NRF), envisaged by PM Modi, will spur R&D and position India as a global R&D leader in next 5 years. NRF will have huge non-government resources, almost 70% of the NRF budget of Rs 50,000 crore over five years, is envisaged to come from non-governmental sources."
Adding to the growth of the biotechnology sector in India, Dr Rajesh Gokhale, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology said that the Biomanufacturing and Biofoundry policy is ready to be announced later this month.
Dr Manish Diwan, Head- Strategic Partnership and Entrepreneurship Development (SPED) at Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) gave a detailed overview of the mega event.
Narayanan Suresh, Chief Operating Officer, Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises (ABLE), suggested that the government should announce the dates for upcoming editions of Global Bio India event for the next 3 years for better visibility of Indian biotech innovations.
"This is the only event for all the biotech stakeholders in India. Global Bio India 2023, in its third edition, will attract global interest and venture capital flow of funds", said Dr Jitendra Kumar, Managing Director, BIRAC.
