Biotechnology leaders forecast the trends in Biotech at Bangalore INDIA BIO 2016

The 16th edition of the Bangalore INDIA BIO concluded after three eventful days. The event was organized by the Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, Vision Group on Biotechnology and Event Partner MM Activ Sci-Tech Communications.

The sessions in the conference most aptly reflected the overarching theme of WHAT'S TRENDING IN BIOTECH INDIA, with special focus on Internet of things and Healthcare, Regenerative Medicine, Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs, Proteomics and Bioinformatics, Synthetic Biology, Precision Medicine & Oncology. The Agri-Biotech day in the conference focused on Agri-Biotechnology for Feed, Food, Fuel and Fibre Security and the highlight was a lively interaction of Experts and farmers from various parts of Karnataka.

Besides industry stalwarts and research heads, the conference saw a bevy of Start-Ups who presented their ideas and products, as part of the Bio Invest & Bio Accelerate Program. The BEST-India (Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Student Teams) start-ups incubated at IIT-Kharagpur, Defence and Food Research Laboratory, Mysore, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, etc. presented their breakthrough ideas.

KEY EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

• Consisted of 25 Sessions with 116 Speakers, over 1000 Delegates participated.

• 92 Poster Presenters presented their Research Ideas in Poster Session - Walkway of Discovery.

• About 80 Exhibitors from various verticals of Life Sciences Industry like biopharmaceuticals, bio- suppliers, bio-informatics, bio-medical devices and Start-ups participated in the Exhibition which attracted over 3000 business visitors.

• International representation this year is from over 10 countries with major delegations from UK, Spain, Korea and delegates from leading countries like USA, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Taiwan, Malaysia

• The event also witnessed participation from various States like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh.

• Bangalore INDIA BIO 2016 facilitated over 300 B2B meetings through the B2B Partnering tool - InterlinX out of which over 60% meetings were between Indian and International Companies
