Meeting international standards

The school has established links with prominanent industries for creating an employability bridge


Established in 2009, school of biotechnology and applied sciences at the Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences offers courses such as MSc, MTech in Biotechnology, MBA in Biotechnology, and M Phil. The students are admitted to the courses through rolling test conducted by Shoolini University followed by personal interview. In 2010-11, out of about 103 applications received, 52 students were admitted to the MSc Biotechnology course.

Shooliniuniversity The infrastructure and facilities of the school are complimented by international academic alliances with Seoul National University, South Korea; National Hampshire University, USA; and Chung Yuan Christian University, Taiwan for transfer of credits and student exchange programs. A number of projects of the school have received funding to the tune of 4.4 crore from the industry and 4.1 crore from government agencies.

The faculty of the school has vast experience in formulating and handling biotechnology related national and international projects, under the overall guidance of Professor PK Khosla, former vice-chancellor, HPAU, Palampur and ex-advisor, Biotechnology, Government of Himachal Pradesh. The curriculum has been designed in consultation with stakeholders so that it meets the requirements of academia, industry and society.

The school claims to have state-of-the-art-laboratories to handle advanced research. The school is in the process of creating a database library on medicinal and aromatic plants.

The school has been providing of industry exposure to the students from time to time. Companies such as Panacea Biotec, Krishidhan, Dabur International, Syngenta, Johnson & Johnson, Nectar Life Sciences, Genpact, Ranbaxy, Torrent Pharmaceutical, Meridian Pharmaceutical and many others have visited the campus to recruit the students. In 2011-12, about 139 graduates from various post graduate courses have found placements in the industry.
