The total revenue of Ankur Seeds for the fiscal year 2009-2010 is amounted to Rs 109.5 crore. The company initially started its research activities in cotton, okra, brinjal and chillies and today it has expanded its research area  to more than 15 crops. Cotton, paddy, okra, and solanaceous vegetables remain the major contributors to the company’s economy.

Ankur has been a forerunner in marketing insect resistant cotton hybrids in the country. The company has also initiated research work on drought resistance cotton through transgenic approach. To comply with the requirements of R&D, the company is expanding its research laboratories with the  construction of 40, 000 sq ft additional lab space. The company has plans to invest Rs 5 crore in biotechnology in a phased manner for over three years to handle futuristic projects. Ankur has established its market brand in proprietary rice varieties and is in advance stages of developing disease resistant varieties for blast and blight through marker assisted breeding.

Ajeet Seeds is a producer and processor of hybrid cottonseeds in India. During 2009-2010, the company totaled a sales figure of Rs 103 crore. It has received approval from GEAC for the sale of Bollgard-I (Ajeet-33 and Ajeet-155) and Bollgard-II (Ajeet-11) cotton hybrids in Central and South zone in 2006. It had also commissioned a modern bio-tech laboratory at Gangapur oin Aurangabad district. Understanding the pivotal role of biotechnology in seed industry, a separate department of biotechnology has been established in 2003.

Its first vegetable, Ajeet-311, hybrid bhendi, was launched in 2002. It was subsequently followed by hybrid chillies, brinjal, tomato, bottle gourd and bitter gourd. Ajeet seed is the first private seed company to introduce proprietor variety of wheat, Ajeet-102. The product profile of the company covers 22 crops and their 55 different hybrids varieties. The company was bestowed the DSIR National Award, 2006 for Outstanding Research Achievements  by the Government of India, Ministry of Science and Technology, New Delhi.

Bangalore based CRO Ecron Acunova reported turnover of Rs 97 crore for the fiscal year 2009-10. The company has established a reputation for quality clinical research in phase II-IV in India. With the early mentoring it got from leading Indian pharma like Cipla and Matrix and globally leading companies in imaging agents, it quickly established a strong reputation for quality services.
