JNU,
Top Public Biotech School
India is one among the select few countries in the world to impart
biotech program as a specialization at higher levels of education
mainly, at the postgraduation and engineering levels. Considering the
fact that biotechnology is considered as an inter-disciplinary field of
various aspects of science, the Department of Biotechnology (DBT),
under the ministry of science and technology in India, has played a
pivotal role in progressing the biotech education in country. Today,
some of the institutes are known globally for their academics. While
the government has been actively supporting the growth of biotech
education, there have been several private biotech institutes which
have mushroomed in the country providing industry-oriented biotech
programs.
BioSpectrum has over the past few years tried to map the progress of
the institutes imparting biotech education through its annual survey of
the Biotech Schools. It ranks institutes and colleges, which are
imparting education at the BTech, MTech, MSc or PhD level in biotech.
