Ranbaxy CEO to demit office by October end

Mr Arun Sawhney has held the top position at the Ranbaxy for last seven years. During his tenure, the company went through a lot of tribulations ranging from tough regulatory actions mostly in the US to the acquisitions by other pharma companies.

Mr Sawhney who has turned 60, joined Ranbaxy in 2008. It was the same time when the Japanese major Daiichi-Sankyo had acquired the firm. He had then taken over as the head of the API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) business and global manufacturing and supply chain. He is credited with managing the Ranbaxy through its deepest crisis like a fine of $500 million. He is also known for his management skills that include the successes such as approval of blockbuster opportunities like Lipitor generic in the US.
