Jaypee Institute has emerged as the center of excellence in the emerging areas of education, including biotechnology, and has been creating professionals who lead in innovation,  entrepreneurship, creativity and  management.
Jaypee Institute of Information Technology University is a deemed university under Section 3 of UGC Act. 1957 vide Notification No. F.9-27/2000-U.3 dated November 1, 2004 of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It is the first amongst three Institutes of higher technical education, raised by the Jaiprakash Sewa Sansthan (JSS). The state-of-the-art campus over a total built up area of over 7,45,272 sqm comprises smart buildings with internet and Wi-Fi connectivity including environmentally conditioned academic block, Annapurna (Mess), well-equipped laboratories, Learning Resource Center, faculty and student residences.
The university offers doctoral, post-graduate as well as undergraduate programs in the disciplines of computer science engineering, information technology, electronics and communication engineering and biotechnology. The university also has various dual degree programs offered by departments of  biotechnology, computer science engineering and Jaypee Business School. Currently, the university offers a four-year BTech in biotechnology as well as a five-year integrated course (BTech and MTech, BTech MBA) in biotechnology. The laboratories are equipped with the latest scientific equipments and state-of-art software packages for analysis of biomolecules in drug discovery (In silico). The laboratory space has been specially designed to accommodate Thermocyclers, Gel documentation systems, CO2 incubators, deep freezers, Laminar Hoods, BOD incubators, Kuhner incubators, Lyophilizers, cold centrifuges, fermentors, walk-in cold rooms, Microplate Readers, pH meters, electrophoretic equipments, binocular microscopes and inverted microscopes with micro-manipulators.
The university's Learning Resource Centre has around 24,050 volumes of books and is house to over 4,000 e-journals covering disciplines like computer science, information technology, biotechnology, mathematics, physics and materials science, humanities, management and other areas related to engineering, science and technology. The collection comprises printed documents such as books, reports, theses, standards, atlases, patents and previous issues of journals. The non-book collections include material like audio/video cassettes and CD-ROM discs etc. RIBOSE – The Biotech Society of JIITU was launched on November 16,  2007 as a wing of Jaypee Youth Club.
