GGSIPU to host international conference on biotechnology

The first "Indraprastha International Conference on Biotechnology-2013 (IICB-2013)" is beng organized from October 22-25, 2013 at the Dwarka Campus of the University School of Biotechnology, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi. 

This conference is being organized with the view to showcase and explore the advances and innovations made by local and global researchers in various fields of biotechnology. The main focus of this event is to create a vibrant platform for exchange of ideas, best practices and strategies that would help to generate a road-map for future research and development in the country. IICB-2013 aims to bring together the best minds in the field of biotechnology and will provide an opportunity to foster academic relations and find global partners for future research collaborations.

Scientific program of the conference would comprise of plenary and invited lectures from internationally and nationally acclaimed scientists. Contributory papers would be presented as posters, and some of these selected submissions will be invited for oral presentations. A detailed list of speakers will be available on the conference website. Abstracts of all the presentations will be compiled in a book that will be available during the conference.

According to Prof Sharma, "Biotechnology research offers great potential for global sustainable development. The scientific advances, innovative products and services are likely to offer better prospects for healthcare, environment, agriculture, energy and industrial sectors."

Elaborating furthre, he added, "Over 200 delegated are expected in the conference. More than 40 invited speakers from India and abroad have already confirmed their participation in the event.The scientific programme will span the following tracks such as agricultural biotechnology, biodiversity and environment biotechnology and human health, industrial biotechnology, omics and In-silico biology, biosafety, IPR and biotechnology education, and biotechnology commercialization and entrepreneurship."
