AIIMS has proposed setting up of a National Cardiovascular center at its Jhajjar (Haryana) campus. It will be set up in collaboration with the Haryana government to address the paucity of specialists.

"There is a paucity of specialists to treat cardiovascular diseases which has become an epidemic and is a leading cause of death apart from cancer and trauma in the country. Also there is a need of research in this sector. So AIIMS has proposed setting up this center," said Dr Neerja Bhatla, chairperson of media and protocol cell, AIIMS.

They also reviewed the setting up of National Cancer Institute at the Jhajjar campus. It is a collaborative project between AIIMS and the US National Cancer Institute.
