Delhi set to host healthcare innovators summit in August

Patients in India and across the globe struggle to access quality healthcare, even as providers strive to improve delivery. To address these challenges, HITLAB®, a healthcare innovation and teaching lab, based out of New York City and New Delhi, is hosting the HITLAB Innovators SummitSM, India. Sponsored by MEDTRONIC, the event will be held on 7th August at the Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India.

HITLAB works with leading organizations across the globe to ideate, create, and evaluate solutions that improve healthcare quality and accessibility. The HITLAB Innovators Summit, India will gather leaders in public health, medicine, technology, and design to discuss health issues and solutions in a live event. The Summit will feature a series of carefully curated talks, panels, and collaboration opportunities designed to engage the most creative minds in health and technology. A wide variety of healthcare stakeholders will be present, including medical device companies, non-profit foundations, startups, and venture capitalists.

The HITLAB Innovators Summit culminates in the HITLAB World Cupâ„ , India 2015, a challenge of unparalleled diversity where innovators will present original solutions to pressing global healthcare issues, creating technologies and products in an effort to improve public health. Teams from countries such as India, Malaysia, Nigeria, Kenya, Spain, Portugal, Spain, Uzbekistan, the United Kingdom, and the United States have previously participated.

This year, close to 25 Indian startup applicants will be selected by HITLAB and its collaborator HealthStart, India for detailed discussions with global venture funds and individual investors. Out of them, Up to 12 Indian startup will get chance to present their ideas at HITLAB Innovators Summit India 2015 and Upto 5 winners be chosen for seed funding. HITLAB World Cup and HealthStart, India have formed a unique partnership aimed at providing promising healthcare innovations in India on a global diffusion platform. Up to five finalists will provided with seed funding.

Key Summit Highlights:

1. The HITLAB Innovators Summit, India 2015 will take place on 7th August at the Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India.

2. Speakers will include experts from New York, Boston, and India.

3. Organizations confirmed to attend include medical, for-profit, and non-profit companies including Medtronic, Robert Bosch Engineering Centre, National Institute of Health & Family Welfare, Actavis (New York), Somerset Indus Capital Partners, SAIF Ventures, IDG Ventures, and HealthStart, India. More are added every day.

4. Startups specializing in innovative healthcare technologies are urged to participate in the HITLAB World Cup.

5. Up to five finalists will be chosen; 20 lakh seed funding will be provided to each startup.
