Pall Corporation acquires BioSMB Technology from Tarpon Biosystems

Pall Corporation, a global leader in filtration, separation and purification, announces the acquisition of the BioSMB technology platform from Tarpon Biosystems. These chromatographic systems enable single-use, multicolumn chromatography for process development and are well placed for multiproduct and single-use facilities.

BioSMB technology is fully scalable from process development to large scale GMP production. The disposable flow path features a proprietary integrated valve cassette and services up to 16 columns or devices.

"We are pleased to add this cutting-edge technology to our growing portfolio of products and services. It extends our process intensification and continuous processing capabilities to support customers as they adopt continuous downstream processing," said Ken Frank, senior vice president at Pall Life Sciences. "The BioSMB technology incorporates disposable components to enable flexible, multiproduct biomanufacturing while reducing costs."

Nelson K. Stacks, president of Tarpon Biosystems further stated, " With this acquisition the strength and reputation of Pall will enable an even wider adoption of the BioSMB platform."

This latest addition expands Pall's portfolio in continuous processing technology at both the process development and GMP scales of operation, while complementing existing Allegro single-use products and systems.
