8th edition of Bangalore India Nano 2016 inaugurated

The 8th edition of India's flagship nanotechnology and nanoscience event Bangalore India Nano 2016, observed a splendid opening today. An initiative powered by Department of IT, BT, and S&T, Government of Karnataka and vision group on Nanotechnology, this one of its unique event that is a refind blend of academia, research and industry to showcase never seen before nanotechnology applications.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by S R Patil, Minister for IT, BT, S&T, and Planning & Statistics, along with the Chairman of the Vision group on Nanotechnology Bharat Ratna Prof. CNR Rao, Ms. Manjula, Principal Secretary, Department of IT, BT, S&T, Government of Karnataka, Prof. Dr. Clement Sancanchez, Chair-Chemistry of Hybrid Materials, College de France-UPMC and Professor Ajay Kumar Sood, Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science.

In his inaugural speech, S R Patil Minister for IT, BT, S&T, and Planning & Statistics, Government of Karnataka urged entrepreneurs to set up Nanotechnology start ups in Karnataka, particularly in Bangalore. "It is believed that Nano applications are limitless. The state government has set up regional science centers in various parts of the state. entrepreneurs can make use of these facilities. Also it is our government endeavor to make Bangalore a cradle of Nano technology", he said.

Prof CNR Rao said that Time has come to get results in India. "One has to do good work on Nano-produce new science and take Bangalore Nano to new heights and create new revolution".

During the inaugural function Prof. Dr. V Ramgopal Rao received the Prof. CNR Rao Bangalore India Nano Science Award for the exceptional work carried out in the Nano electronic space. Prof. Ramgopal Rao is a P K Kelkar Chair Professor in the department of Electrical Engineering and Chief Investigator for the Center of Excellence in Nanoelectronics project at IIT Bombay.

The Bangalore India Nano conference would address the latest trends in Nanotechnology covering Healthcare, Clean Water, Energy, Manufacturing, Research Industry Collaboration Hub, Keynote lectures over 13+ sessions and will see participation of over 600 delegates from across 9 countries with participation of over 200 organizations.

Bangalore India Nano 2016 will also comprise a Research Industry Collaboration (RICH)-a unique platform designed for the benefit of young researchers, emerging entrepreneurs and is expected to be attended by potential investors, heads of large R&D labs, venture capitalists and industry captains.

Additionally, the three day event will feature product and Technology exhibition showcasing innovative nanotechnology adopted by over 45 exhibitors in Nanotechnology and allied sectors.

The other major highlight include 'Nano Sparx', a platform for students to PhD scholars to encourage entrepreneurship in Nanotechnology where ideas are presented on Nanotechnology with which social relevance.

Last day of the event would feature Tutorials on Nano Fabrication Technologies; Nano Medicine; Electron Microscopy and Nano Photobics.
