Department of Biotechnology

Government Science College is affiliated to Bangalore University. It offers 21 courses under its BSc program and three MSc programs in biotechnology, mathematics and microbiology. There are 23 departments, which are led by the senior and experienced teachers. Government Arts and Science college, started in the 1920s and  got its independent identity in the year 1972. Government Science College has been accredited by NAAC in 2003 as being eligible for B++ grade.
The faculty position is adequate as per the government norms in all the departments. The college encourages participation of the teaching staff in seminars, conferences, symposiums, orientation and refresher courses as a measure towards academic growth. Since its inception, the postgraduate departments have been performing extremely well maintaining a hundred percent results in the university examinations in addition to bagging a number of ranks.
