Dayananda Sagar College of Biological Sciences is an integral part of Dayananda Sagar Institutions and has biotechnology, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics and zoology as core subjects. The biological sciences discipline has well-qualified and experienced faculties. The college offers postgraduate and undergraduate courses and it also offers faculty development programs, seminars, workshops and interactive sessions with experts from industry and research sectors. A science festival named Biomic is held as annual event with large participation. National and international conferences like STEM 2005 are also organized in association with other research and academic bodies.
The department has state-of-the-art laboratories, which are spacious and placed with modern equipments and instruments. The departments are supported by excellent library with well-stocked books across a broad spectrum of subjects, and with modern computer center catering to the needs of students and  helping them to meet the current and future needs of biosciences. Professors of the department have made several research project proposals on the current advances on topics such as stem cell research, environmental studies, plant biotechnology and human genetics.
 To stay in tune in the competitive world, students are encouraged to take up project works at various reputed research institutes and corporates such as Biocon,  Indian Institute of Science,  University of Agricultural Sciences, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Central Food Technological Research Institute, AstraZeneca, Avastagen, ITPL Park, Natural Center for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research, Molecular Connections,  GVK Biosciences, Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI),  and Raghavendra Biotechnologies.
