Dr Nimita Limaye, vice
president & global head, SIRO Clinpharm, has been named chairperson
of Society for Clinical Data Management (SCDM).
“I am deeply honored to have been considered for this position, and I

its strategic priorities. I would like to thank all members on the

Corporation, a leading life sciences and high technology company, has
announced the sudden death of Dr Jai P Nagarkatti, its chairman,
president and CEO, who died unexpectedly, of an apparent heart attack.
Dr Nagarkatti spent his entire career with Sigma-aldrich — beginning in
1976 — with positions spanning R&D, manufacturing, operations,
sales and marketing. His effectiveness and dedication were recognized
in each function; and led to steady promotions and increasing
responsibilities. He was elected president and chief operating
officer in 2004; elected to the additional roles of CEO in 2006; and
chairman of the board in 2009. He had been a member of the board of
directors since 2005.
Under his leadership and guidance, the company continued its focus on
service, quality, and innovation, to become a leading global life
sciences and high-tech company. His vision drove the company’s renewed
focus on sustainability and corporate responsibility, touching
countless persons in the company, and communities in which it operates.
Sigma-aldrich’s board of directors, has had in place, a careful
succession plan for key officers, including the CEO. The board has
elected Rakesh Sachdev as president and CEO of the company. Earlier,
Sachdev served as chief financial officer, chief administrative
officer, and senior vice president of
international business.
Dr AS Arvind joins Ecron Acunova

DA Prasanna, chairman of
Ecron Acunova (EA), an India and Europe-based clinical research
organization (CRO), has announced the appointment of Dr AS Arvind as
strategic advisor. He will guide the company on operational excellence
and will mentor the team. From his immense experience, Arvind will
support the clients medically, scientifically and strategically in
their clinical development plan.
Prior to EA, Dr Arvind was chief operating officer of Clinigene, a
subsidiary of Biocon. In 2000, he played an integral role in the
development of Biocon’s pipeline and contributed to its strategic
alliances with global majors. Prior to Biocon, Dr Arvind was consultant
physician at West Wales General Hospital, and has held prestigious
positions at UK hospitals.
