The School of Biotechnology and Applied Sciences at the Shoolini University of Biotechnology & Management Sciences offers MTech, MBA, MSc (Hons) and MPhil courses in biotechnology.

The students are admitted to the courses through Rolling Test conducted by the Shoolini University followed by a personal interview.

Among the students enrolled for different BTech, MSc/ MTech, MPhil and PhD courses many of them are clearing JNU and NET-GATE entrance examination every year. Out of 40 applications received for MSc biotechnology course, 35 students were admitted in the academic year 2009-10.

The faculty of the school has vast experience in formulating and handling biotechnology-related national and international projects, under the overall guidance of Prof PK Khosla, former vice-chancellor of HPAU, Palampur and ex-advisor, Biotechnology, Government of Himachal Pradesh. The school has 30 full-time faculty members with 27 PhD holders. In addition to this, the school has 15 visiting faculty members and all of them are have PhDs and three of them are from the industry background.

So far, the faculty members of the school have published 35 papers in Indian journals and 15 papers in international journals between 2007 and 2010.

In total, the university has 20 research labs that are used for different areas of research. The staff of the school have developed three products and received grants worth 6 lakh from industry and 84 lakh worth projects from different government agencies between 2007 and 2010. The school has been focusing on imparting quality education in the area of biotechnology. In the last three years, one international patent has been published from the school.

The school has spent 15 lakh and 4.4 lakh on purchasing biotech-related books and journals, 1.2 crore on lab equipments and 40 lakh on consumables and reagents in the academic year 2009-10.

Out of 156 biotech students who cleared the exams in 2010, 90 students opted for higher studies. The school has been providing the industry exposure to the students from time to time.

About 12 companies have conducted campus interviews in the academic year 2009-10. Every year, several students are getting campus placements offered by the companies.
