Minister for Industries inaugurates Laurus Labs facilities and 3GV at Genome Valley, Hyderabad
Duddila Sridhar Babu, Minister of Information Technology, Electronics, Communications, Industries & Legislative Affair, inaugurated two cutting-edge life sciences facilities at Genome Valley and presided over the groundbreaking of Biopolis, an ambitious new research campus.
The Minister inaugurated a new Research and Development facility by Laurus Labs, one of India’s leading pharmaceutical companies. Known for its leadership in developing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and formulations, Laurus Labs continues to expand its innovation capabilities. Recently, Laurus Labs had announced a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in partnership with KrKa, a prominent European company. The upcoming manufacturing facility and the new R&D facility together represents an investment of Rs 2,250 crore over the next 4 years creating 2800 jobs, marking a significant milestone in its mission to deliver cutting-edge healthcare solutions, both in India and on the global stage.
Additionally, D Sridhar Babu inaugurated 3GV, a multi-tenanted life sciences facility spanning 150,000 square feet. Notably, 3GV is the world’s first EDGE Advanced certified life sciences facility, a global standard for sustainable infrastructure in the sector. With an infrastructure investment of Rs 105 crore, thereby creating over 1000 new jobs, the facility provides state-of-the-art laboratory spaces for companies of all sizes, from dynamic startups to established global players.
The Minister also broke ground on Biopolis, an 8.5-acre research campus that will offer 1,000,000 square feet of advanced lab spaces, designed to support collaboration among research organisations, pharmaceutical giants, and startups. This ambitious project, with an infrastructure investment of Rs 700 crore, is expected to generate 6,500 jobs, further cementing Telangana’s status as Asia’s foremost life sciences hub.
In addition to the facility visits, the Minister held high-level discussions with 30-40 key industry leaders from companies like Bharat Biotech, Syngene, Biological E, JAMP Pharma etc., focusing on the future development of Genome Valley.
