Millipore India expands life science portfolio
Millipore India, the Bangalore-based India operation of the US-headquartered Millipore Corporation  registered revenue of Rs 160.30 crore for the year 2008-09 as against Rs 173.19 crore the previous financial year.

Over the year, Millipore India has expanded the portfolio of life science products considerably. With a range that now includes more than 40,000 products, Millipore is  well placed with innovative solutions for advancing life science in the areas of research, development and production of pharmaceutical products and biologics. Beyond the well established solutions in downstream processing.
Millipore has established itself in the upstream area of cell culture and nutrients. Millipore has also been in the forefront in integrating and partnering customers on single use or disposable manufacturing solutions. The Mobius hardware platform and the Mobius range of single use bags, connectors and assemblies have been well received by industry. Millipore solutions in TFF, UFF, chromatography columns and media continue to consolidate their position in the areas of filtration and purification.
The country’s first Validation and Process development Lab recently completed five years of world class service for the biopharmaceutical industry.
With the introduction of gold standard brands of antibodies and reagents such as Upstate and Chemicon, Indian researchers engaged in research in cardiovascular, immune system, apoptosis, infectious diseases, obesity and diabetes now have access to high quality antibodies. The Lab water division has continued to launch innovative new water purification systems with breakthrough concepts in the production, storage and delivery of pure and ultrapure water.
In keeping with its commitment of delivering excellence in quality and in providing customer service and support, Millipore India has made considerable investments in upgrading its manufacturing facilities and service quality systems. The company has the largest team dedicated to technical support and service for life science customers.
The EOU manufacturing facility which supplies select products to customers world wide is a part of the Global Supply Chain initiative of Millipore Corporation, USA. The Company has also initiated several programs in the area of sustainability at manufacturing and R&D locations worldwide to conserve, reuse and recycle scarce natural resources and materials.
Talking about the company’s future plans, Sudhir Kant, president, Millipore India, said, “Flexible bioprocessing solutions, mycoplasma, rapid microbiology are the new areas. We are also looking at an incubation center. In a couple of months we are launching an advanced training program in which we will teach our customers to manage people and processes together. Disposables will become very popular in the coming years.”
