Millipore recently received antitrust clearance from the Federal Trade Commission to buy Serologicals Corp. (SERO) for $31.55 per share in cash. The agency granted early termination of the waiting period required under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act.

The strategic combination of Millipore and Serologicals will significantly strengthen Millipore's Bioscience Division by giving it leading positions in a broad range of high growth segments such as drug discovery products and services, antibodies, cell biology reagents, and stem cell research. Millipore expects to increase sales of Serologicals' products in international markets such as Europe, Asia and Japan, where Millipore has a significant presence. Millipore India was founded in 1987 and is a joint venture with Millipore Corporation. With revenues of Rs 690 million in 2004-2005 and 225 qualified scientists, engineers, pharmacists and other staff, the company has consolidated its position as a leading bioscience service provider.
