T John College was established by T John, the ex-minister
of state for infrastructure development and aviation in Karnataka. T
John’s initiative has also led to the formation of
Marougen Education Foundation in 1988.
The department of biotechnology at T John College offers
bachelors and masters degrees in biotechnology. From the year 1996, the
college offers BSc in biotechnology, which is recognized by Bangalore
University; from the year 2001, the college offers MSc in
biotechnology, which is recognized by Bangalore University; and from
the year 2004, the college offers MPhil in biotechnology, which is
recognized by Bharathidasan, Annamalai and Dravidian universities.
The student intake capacities for BSc, MSc and MPhil courses are 32, 45
and four respectively. The college has five dedicated biotech
laboratories, which can accommodate 30 students each. Students who
successfully complete their course at the college will get a placement
opportunity.
