Automed introduces Breeder—a flexible Incubator

Automed along with its international partner Wheaton Science Products has launched the Breeder, a flexible, foldable incubator for cell culture, in India. This portable incubator can be easily stored by collapsing and folding. It is made of flexible plastic and fibers, with a control unit containing the temperature control sensors and heaters. It is positioned as a low cost alternative to a standard incubator for roller culture applications. The breeder is less expensive than a standard incubator and frees up valuable space for other experiments. The roller rack with the Breeder can be easily moved to accommodate laboratory space and traffic requirements. They can also be moved as one unit to allow more convenient working space (bottle filling near laminar flow hood, so the roller rack provides a place to put the bottles and the risk of contamination is reduced). It can monitor the temperature of the culture environment and report it to a PC for logging purposes.

MantaRay, a suspension culture flask from Automed

Automed along with Wheaton Science Products has introduced a disposable suspension culture flask called MantaRay. This is an unbreakable, safe, pre-sterilized and single use cell culture vessel to grow suspension cell cultures. It is made of flexible plastics, saves space, comes with a gentle, efficient stirrer and is ready to use—complete with magnet. MantaRay is used for growing cultures of mammalian cells, but can also be used for plant and insect cells. Its proprietary stirrer technology is designed to minimize damage to fragile cells, such as mammalian cells. The culture flask also allows media and gasses to be added or changed during the experiment under sterile conditions and it can culture cells on micro-carrier beads, which the cells use as a growth surface. The product is targeted at universities, pharma, institutes or companies performing cancer research, producing proteins, enzymes or antibodies and researchers in insect and hybridoma cell cultures.
