Labmate was founded as a partnership company in 1989 with the objective to be the comprehensive partner in India, for the manufacturers worldwide in the field of biotechnology. Later it was incorporated as a private limited company in 1992.

The company has four divisions-Instruments, Biologicals, Drug Discovery and Frontier Tech. The Instruments Division offers products such as benchtop fermenters, robotic liquid handling workstation, gel documentation system and electroporation / cell fusion.

The range of products from the Biologicals division includes restriction and modifying enzymes, protein tools, polymerases, antibodies for cell signaling pathways and magnetically activated cell sorters. The drug discovery division offers products in the fields of cellomics, genomics, proteomics, electro physiology, in-vivo and molecular imaging.

The company represent principals like Carl Zeiss, Scigenics, Xiril, New England Biolabs, Finnzymes, Genetix, Bruker Daltonics, Biospace France, in India.

Today, Labmate represents the interests of several world leaders in their respective fields. The customer base now encompasses almost all the leading research establishments in life sciences of ICAR, ICMR, CSIR labs, universities and major hospitals with research facilities, the recent market segment being the new biopharmaceutical companies involved in recombinant vaccines and drug discovery.

Recently the UK-based robotics manufacturer Genetix appointed Labmate as their marketing partner for micro-arrays and microarray scanners in India. Hi-tech instruments of the company, to be available in India would deliver high throughput gene expression analysis aimed at genomics labs and research and drug discovery firms across India. Labmate now is a team of over 65 professionals and provide service all over the country with headquarters in Madras and branches in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Lucknow, Chandigarh and Kolkata.
