Ajanta, Aurobindo, Sun Pharma gets tentative FDA approval of Tadalafil

Tadalafil, an oral drug that is used for treating impotence, has seen the first wave of approvals and Indian companies - Ajanta, Aurobindo and Sun Pharma, all have seen tentative approvals in this.

Tadalafil is manufactured by Eli Lilly and it is sold under two brands as Cialis and Adcirca.

Adcirca and Cialis will lose their first patent in 2018 and last patent in 2021. Cialis also has pediatric exclusivity which will expire in 2021.

Cialis reported annual sales of $2.3bn and Adcirca reported sales of $290mn in 2017. Teva has received final approval in the first wave.
