IIT-M inks MoU with BMEC Imaging to establish Medical Design and Imaging Lab

The Department of Engineering Design, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BMEC Imaging, to establish the Medical Design and Imaging Laboratory, strengthening industry–academia collaboration in medical technology.

The partnership will focus on joint research, product development and skill-building initiatives in medical imaging, oncology and allied healthcare technologies, addressing critical gaps in India’s MedTech ecosystem.

It will further strengthen the Department’s B.Tech + M.Tech Dual Degree in Biomedical Design, along with MS (by Research) and doctoral programmes, by enabling students and researchers to work on real-world healthcare challenges.

BMEC Imaging’s expertise in advanced imaging systems, combined with IIT Madras’ design-led, interdisciplinary approach, aims to deliver affordable, accessible healthcare innovations with global impact.
