Noccarc to secure BIS approval for revolutionary ventilator

01 November 2023 | News

Currently focusing on the domestic market over the next two years

Noccarc, incubated at the Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, is on the verge of obtaining Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) approval for its groundbreaking ventilator.

This accomplishment puts Noccarc in direct competition with international products conforming to FDA and CE standards, a remarkable feat considering that over 80% of medical devices in India are typically imported.

The company's dedication to research and development, rigorous testing, and adherence to international manufacturing standards has resulted in two granted patents and over 23 patent applications. The ventilator has garnered endorsements from medical institutions such as AIIMS Bhopal and Ruby Hall, Pune.

Noccarc has transformed ICU operations by supplying more than 3,600 ventilators, addressing critical issues overlooked by traditional companies. This achievement not only redefines industry standards but also showcases India's untapped potential in producing high-value, high-margin medical equipment.

While Noccarc has global aspirations, the company is currently focusing on the domestic market over the next two years to meet the substantial demand in India. Simultaneously, Noccarc is actively working toward obtaining CE and FDA approvals, positioning itself for broader global expansion. Padmaja Ruparel, Founding Partner of the IAN Fund, praised Noccarc's impressive progress, emphasising their dedication to enhancing ICU care.
