SSI MANTRA surgical robot system was recently used to conduct Robotic Assisted LIMA (Left Internal Mammary Artery) Takedown surgery on a 35-year-old patient in Continental Hospital, Hyderabad.

The procedure – LIMA Takedown with Pericardial Opening is a coronary artery bypass surgery with a single graft. The left internal mammary artery is taken out from the internal wall of the chest and then grafted or bypassed beyond the area of occlusion for the coronary artery in the heart.

LIMA is a life-saving coronary artery bypass procedure that involves the left internal mammary artery and the left anterior descending artery. It opens the heart's blood flow, restoring full function to the heart, thus saving the life of the patient.
