A US lady recently underwent robotic bariatric surgery at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi for being abnormally overweight and diabetic. Intuitive da Vinci tool was used to conduct the surgery.
Dr Arun Prasad, Senior Consultant, GI, Bariatric and Robotic Surgery, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, said, "It is a type of robotic surgery in which specialised robotic staplers for a seamless surgery are used. This procedure could be less painful with fewer cuts and wounds and promises better recovery in comparison to other traditional modalities."
