Sun Pharma to take over Japan's Polo Pharma

Pola Pharma will help Sun Pharma launch its speciality and generic dermatology products in Japan in the future.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd has agreed to buy Japan's Pola Pharma Inc. for $1 million (Rs 7.1 crore). The acquisition is in line with the company's strategy to strengthen its global dermatology business.

Pola Pharma, part of POLA ORBIS Group, makes and sells branded and generic products in Japan. The company has two factories in Japan to make topical products and injectables. It has research and development capabilities to develop new technologies and formulations.

Pola Pharma will help Sun Pharma launch its speciality and generic dermatology products in Japan in the future.

The deal is expected to close on or before 31 January 2019, subject to completion of closing conditions.
