First India-Sri Lanka joint research symposium was recently held at Colombo during 29-31 May 2017
The symposium was inaugurated by Prem Jayantha, Sri Lankan Minister for Research, Science & Technology and Taranjit Singh Sandhu, High Commissioner of India.
Indian and Sri Lankan researchers, who have participated in joint R&D projects made presentations covering cooperation in the fields of Traditional Knowledge, Food technology, Indigenous Medicine, Chemical Technology and Earth Sciences.
"During his address, Susil Premajayantha thanked India for its swift response to the Sri Lankan request for flood relief. He also appreciated India’s readiness to share meteorological data to improve disaster preparedness."
"The High Commissioner of India noted that India is today well-positioned to make substantial contributions to the research and development (R&D) industry in the world. He added that India is committed to promoting ‘science with a human face’. He reiterated India’s commitment to sharing its expertise in S & T with Sri Lanka."
