NIPER Mohali signs agreement with Novartis Healthcare

In a significant step towards promoting academic-industry collaboration and strengthening research and innovation in the pharmaceutical science sector, Mohali-based National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) has signed an agreement with Novartis Healthcare Private Limited (NHPL).

The MoU was signed in the presence of Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers in New Delhi.

Under the collaboration, a faculty member from NIPER Mohali has been selected for the prestigious initiative supported by NHPL, the Development Pioneer Grant for NIPER. The grant aims to foster cutting-edge research and foster innovation-based partnerships between academia and industry.

Manoj Joshi said that such efforts will significantly increase the workability and effectiveness of the researcher as per the requirement of the industries. He stressed on the need to ensure beyond the pilot phases that the research is tailored to the needs of the industries thereby enhancing the usefulness of industry-academia collaboration.

The Development Pioneer Grant provides a competitive platform to the faculty members of all the seven NIPER institutes to submit their R&D proposals. The response to the invitation for applications for this grant was good, with a total of 42 proposals submitted by eminent faculty members. After rigorous and systematic evaluation by an independent jury, a faculty member from NIPER Mohali was selected as the grant recipient.

The Development Pioneer Grant for NIPER has been established in line with the vision of the Department of Pharmaceuticals to strengthen industry-academia linkages. It aims to enhance academic research capacity, support innovation, and foster pioneering advancements in the healthcare sector in India. This collaboration is expected to further integrate NIPER into the broader pharmaceutical innovation ecosystem and reinforce the shared commitment to scientific excellence.
